On October 21, Beecher City Jr/Sr High School sent two teams to the 44th annual EcoMeet hosted by the United States Army Corps of Engineers at Camp Camfield along Lake Shelbyville. 8th graders, Becca Macklin and Gage Hart, and 7th graders, Keaira Arnold and Jackson Ooton, competed for the JV team. Senior, Austin Lamb, junior, Gracie Heckert, and sophomores, Wyatt Doty and Marissa Summers, competed for the Varsity team. The JV team finished 5th out of 19 teams. The topics they were tested over were White-tailed Deer, Rivers and Streams, and Illinois Forest Products. The Varsity team finished 12th out of 17 teams. The content they were tested on were Eastern Wild Turkey, Tallgrass Prairie, and Soil Science and Illinois Soils. Great Job!

Shout out to Officer Jeff Suckow! During every drivers ed class Officer Suckow brings the golf cart and goggles to the school to teach students how dangerous under the influence driving can be. Thank you to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and Officer Suckow!
